Called to complain - management sent a woman to clean who couldn't have been nicer and really tried her best. She did all bathrooms and most of the floors - the heads from her wet mop were black too - I hope she shared with the manager. We gave her a nice tip for trying her best. Oh, and in the interest of full disclosure, the manager credited me the cleaning fee - I would have gladly paid double to have a clean vacation home.
We rented Sandsport for our family reunion week of 7/22-7/29. Located in the gate at Inlet Harbour. It was a disaster from the start. First of all the house was filthy. Bathrooms were disgusting and dead roaches laying around visibly, and we killed a few live ones. All of the vertical blinds in the downstairs bedroom and living areas were missing slats and pull rods and didn't work. After loading up the refrigerator with our reunion food on Saturday, we woke up Sunday am to find the refrigerator not working and all the food had to be discarded. The house in general did not meet the standards that we have come to expect from Dunes having used them for over 30 years. It was a disaster with missing light covers, outlets missing their covers and exposed wires. I do have to note that upon complaining to Dunes, they refunded one nights stay, the cleaning fee and the food that we had to discard from the refrigerator. They offered to move us to another beach house, right next door, and obviously owned by the same ghetto owner. Actually it was in worse shape than the one we were in. My point is that this home should never have been on the rental program and for the $7K we paid for the week, was an insult. Perhaps Dunes has just gotten so big now, that they can afford to list whatever comes their way and not care. Next year we will not be using Dunes and I suggest that if you are reading this, that you give careful consideration to the house that you rent from them - before you put all your money down. Oh and to add insult to injury, I was told by Dunes when I made the reservation that the house had been recently renovated due to Matthew. There was actually a hole in the kitchen floor covered with a piece of cardboard and taped down with duct tape! What a joke and a lie.
My family has traveled to Surfside Beach and Garden City Beach annually for over thirty years, but this is the first year we've rented a unit from Dunes Realty. When we arrived at our rental, we were heartbroken to find that there were huge pipes along the beach with construction crews working 24-7 on a beach re-nourishment project.
In regard to customer service - I spoke to the manager who obviously needs to learn about customer service and customer retention. The first rule is to acknowledge that the person has a real complaint - when you tell people you have never had a complaint before (which I could hardly believe) it makes the caller think a- you don't believe them, or b-you don't care. I was thankful that those in our group could move past the need to clean their areas and enjoy their beach time. Some washed their comforters and used their own sheets & towels - so much for paying for linens.
I could not have been more disappointed in our accommodations. The house was a pig sty! We had to clean all bathrooms before we could use them. The floors were black - those who thought they could go without shoes found themselves with black feet! The comforters were dirty and pillow shams and bed skirts deplorable.
Needless to say, I will never, and I mean never, use Dunes Realty again - you thank the manager for that! We will spend our hard earned $ elsewhere and hopefully be able to forget this terrible experience.
This was the worst vacation house I have ever stayed in. The pictures are completely inaccurate of what the house actually looks like; false advertising to the max. Chairs are falling apart, there is dirt built up on tables, chairs and counters, the ceilings are drooping and we found a cockroach right when we walked in the door. We called the main office and even the general manager and received no help and NO REFUND!! Ryan, the general manager of the properties, came out to look at the house and had an excuse for everything. He was completely unapologetic and said he didn't want to fix any of the issues because "no one else had ever complained about them before". Customer service is extremely lacking. We only received assistance when we called house keeping and they came out right away to handle the situation, doing everything they could on their end to make things right. These properties are not taken care of; they are neglected. I would rate with zero stars if I could. Absolutely disgusting and terrible experience. Please be aware, never stay here or with this rental company.
My father has health issues, trouble sleeping, and difficulty walking. Navigating the pipes and trying to rest during construction would have been extremely challenging for him. I went to the Dunes Realty Office and met with the General Manager, Ryan, who was very helpful and accommodating. He offered to move us to another location and allowed us to go take a look at it before making a decision. My parents loved the new location. Ryan allowed us to switch to the new location and even added linens at no extra cost because we didn't have the right size linens with us (our previous rental had beds of different sizes). My entire family is extremely grateful to Ryan and the entire team at Dunes Realty. Everyone was extremely polite and responsive to our needs, and we couldn't be happier with our experience with this company.
We rented a house called My Blue Heaven in July and had a great experience. The house was exactly as advertised, right on the beach, and well furnished. The beach was pristine and not overly crowded. However, I was surprised by the lack of shopping and eating accessibility in the area where we stayed. All the seafood was "calabash style" which means battered and fried (inedible for people like us on a grain-free diet), and the only shopping options within walking distance were high-priced gift shops. You can rent a golf cart to get around, but you can't drive it after dark. Also beware of check-in times. Rentals do not become available until later afternoon on Saturday, and there is a very long line with everyone needing to go through the check-in process at the same time. Staff did make every effort to get through the crowd as quickly as possible, however.
